Spider Lake is a short drive from downtown Traverse City, great trout fishing on the Boardman River, and State Forest areas. Hartwick Pines State Park, Sleeping Bar Sand Dunes, and Mackinac Island are close by as is the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Leelanau Sands Casino.
